Social Inclusion, Community Resilience & Cohesion

Achieving equitable health outcomes requires deliberate efforts to reach underserved and
marginalized populations. AHCA-Ghana supports governments and partners to integrate gender
equality and social inclusion (GESI) into health systems, ensuring that no community is left
behind.
We conduct equity-focused analyses, design inclusive health programs, and strengthen
community systems to enhance participation, accountability, and resilience. Our work prioritizes
vulnerable populations, including women, children, persons with disabilities, and communities in
fragile and underserved settings.

Our process

01.

Gender and social inclusion analysis

We conduct comprehensive GESI assessments to identify barriers to accessing and utilizing
health services. Our analysis informs inclusive program design and policy development.

02.

Disability inclusion health programming

We support the design and implementation of disability-inclusive health interventions, ensuring
that health services are accessible, acceptable, and responsive to the needs of people with
disabilities.

03.

Equity focused PHC assessment

We assess disparities in access, coverage, and quality of PHC services across population groups
and geographic areas, providing evidence to guide targeted interventions.

04.

Main streaming GESI into policies, programs, and MEL systems

We integrate gender and equity considerations into health policies, program design, and
monitoring systems, ensuring that inclusion is systematically tracked and measured.

05.

Community systems and social accountability mechanism systems

We strengthen community structures and accountability mechanisms to enhance participation,
transparency, and responsiveness of health systems to community needs.

06.

Programming in fragile, conflict, and underserved settings.

We design and support the implementation of context-specific interventions in fragile, conflict-
affected, and underserved areas, ensuring resilience and continuity of essential services.

We ensure that health programs are inclusive, equitable, and responsive, enabling all population
groups, especially the most vulnerable, to access and benefit from quality health services.
