Technical Assistance & Capacity Building

Sustainable health system transformation depends on strong local capacity. AHCA-Ghana provides embedded, hands-on technical assistance to ministries of health, district health systems, and implementing partners to strengthen systems, improve performance, and deliver measurable results. Our approach combines institutional strengthening, workforce development, and practical implementation support. We co-design solutions with stakeholders, build capacity through tailored training and mentorship, and support systems that ensure long-term sustainability and country ownership.

Our process

01.
Embedded Technical Assistance to Ministries and Partners
We provide direct technical support at national, regional, and district levels to strengthen governance, planning, service delivery, and health system performance. Our team works alongside government counterparts to ensure practical, context-specific solutions.
02.
Curriculum Development and Capacity Building
We design and deliver competency-based training programs tailored to health system needs. This includes development of training materials, facilitation of workshops, and on-the-job capacity building in areas such as data use, program management, and service delivery improvement.
03.
Stakeholder Engagement and Systems Co-Creation
We facilitate inclusive stakeholder engagement processes to ensure ownership, alignment, and sustainability. Through co-creation approaches, we support partners to design solutions that are contextually relevant and widely accepted.
04.
Leadership Development, Coaching, and Mentorship
We strengthen leadership and management capacity through structured coaching, mentorship, and supportive supervision. Our approach empowers health managers and frontline workers to drive continuous improvement within their systems.

Our Capacity Building Strengths

  • Health systems strengthening at national and sub-national levels
  • District and facility-level performance improvement
  • Training in DHIS2, data use, and data quality management
  • Use of digital, statistical, and visualization tools, including mobile data collection (ODK, KoboCollect), Stata, R, GIS, Python
  • Supportive supervision and quality improvement (QI/PDSA approaches)
  • Leadership and management development for health managers
